On Friday, October 28th the grade six classes hosted a Market Day, following their English novel studies of “Lemonade War” written by Jaqueline Davies. Their entrepreneurial skills were put to the test, as they learned how to develop business plans, market and create profit margins for their homemade products. Both sights and sounds transformed the Middle School courtyard into a “real-looking” market that was roamed through by 4th -8th graders who were given “market dollars” to shop with. Shave Ice, mochi, and musubi were just a few of the popular items sold at the market. Special thanks to our parent volunteers who helped out with set up and clean up and to administration, parents, faculty, staff, and students who came out to show their support. Many significant business lessons were learned throughout the day especially that running a business isn’t as easy as it may appear. A fun and educational day was had by all!
