BACK TO SCHOOL – 2022 School Protocol Updates

Aloha MSOS! We are looking forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday, January 10, 2022. Our school community continues to thrive as a result of the ongoing support and compliance from our parents, faculty, and staff. The rise in covid cases is a reminder to follow healthy sanitization practices, wear a mask, minimize large group gatherings, and please keep your children home if they show any signs of illness. If your child traveled out of state throughout the Christmas break, it is imperative that you complete the survey below. Please carefully review the following information and feel free to contact the administration should you have any questions or concerns.

Vaccination Updates

Vaccination for younger children and booster doses for those who became fully vaccinated more than five months ago continue to be highly effective tools against both acquiring infections and avoiding severe disease. We urge our community to protect themselves and our school with these prevention tools.  The HDOH has now approved booster shots for 12 to 15 year-olds.

Please complete the following vaccination record survey if you haven’t already done so or if you need to provide the school with an update.

If your child has had BOTH doses please email a copy of your child’s COVID-19 vaccination record card to [email protected].

Daily Health Check-In App

Daily reminders to complete the daily health check-in will resume on Monday, January 10, 2022. Please note that we have added additional questions. Your vigilance to complete the daily health check-in is greatly appreciated. This is a vital step in monitoring our community’s health for a safe return to campus on January 10, 2022.

Out of State Travel

All students who have traveled out of state must complete this Winter Travel Form.

MSOS Travel policy provides three options for students returning from out-of-state travel:

  1. Quarantine at home for 10 days after returning or;
  2. Quarantine at home for 5 days after returning from travel and then obtain a nucleic acid amplification (NAA) COVID-19 test or;
  3. Fully vaccinated prior to the start of out-of-state travel (vaccination cards are to be forwarded to the school nurse prior to travel) may return to school per current State travel requirements

Unvaccinated Students who plan to do a Day 5 test must stay home while waiting for the result of the test. Families should submit the student’s negative test result to our school nurse and may return to campus only after they receive an email clearing the student.

Dining Hall

Students will remain in their classroom bubbles and will seat 4 to a table.

Mask Wearing

Mask wearing is mandatory both inside and outside; mask break zones during recess will continue to be available

Daily temperature Checks

Teachers may take the temperature of students on an as-needed basis. All campus visitors must first report to the front office.

Return to School Following an Illness

Below is the updated return to school decision tree as of December 15, 2021. We understand that there have been several updates to both quarantine and isolation protocols. For now, we will continue to follow our December 15, 2021 Decision Tree. The decision tree will be re-evaluated on February 1, 2022.
