International Day of Peace

The International Day of Peace (Sept 21st) was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the Day as a period of non-violence and cease-fire. The United Nations Foundation will be presenting a Peace Day Live program which will take place on September 21, on the International Day of Peace. It will broadcast live from London and New York, and will include high-profile actors and musicians on air to spread the message of nonviolence.

Student-crafted paper cranes and peace placards are being displayed throughout campus as a reminder of how we can all contribute to bring more peace into our world.
