March Madness isn’t just about basketball!

March Math Madness “24” Game Tournament was started at MSOS in the spring of 2021. Each year, it has grown, and the students have improved immensely. The students work in teams of 2. They are given 4 numbers, and they need to make 24 by adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing. Each number must be used once.  The competition is designed to test arithmetic and mental math skills.

MSOS students competed over 2 weeks. The top 3 teams advanced to the Hawaii Catholic School event.

This event was an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the incredible talent and creativity of mathematicians. Three other schools participated in the event: Holy Family Catholic Academy, Sacred Hearts Academy, and St. Anthony School.

Congratulations to MSOS Sixth grader Connor Lopez and MSOS 4th grader, Mila Lopez who took first place at the first annual Hawaii Catholic Schools March Math Madness Event!
