Hiking, learning about the endangered silver swords, and the terrain atop Mauna Kea were just a few of the highlights of the annual Big Island Trip for 5th graders. Tide pools yielded amazing wonders to our 5th graders at the Old Kona Airport Park and students enjoyed Lumpia, Korean hotdogs, and Boba drinks at the local farmer’s market. Students were led on a hike to find native plants like the fiddlehead fern, explored the wildlife among the lehua trees, and trained through the Thruston lava Tube to explore an ecosystem like no other.
This three-day trip will be remembered for many years to come!
