Second Grade –
This second-grade lesson is based on “ The Color Monster” written by Anna Llenas. As this adorable monster learns to sort and define his mixed-up emotions, he gains self-awareness and peace as a result. Second graders created their own mixed-up color monsters and then placed “their color” into the glass jar of emotions to show their understanding of the lesson.
Kindergarten –
This colorful and touching story called “Neither” by Airlie Anderson, celebrates what makes each of us unique. A little creature that’s not quite a bird and not quite a bunny–it’s “neither”–searches for a place to fit in. The kindergartners drew their own “Neither” creatures showing their understanding of the elements of line, shape and their creativity by combining different animals (owls/bears, cats/cows.
