Grades 4-8  ROBO CAMP (4 hours)

Instructor: Mr. Eachus

Got the robotics bug?  It is never too late to learn more.  Robo Camp will kick-start you into the exciting world of robotics or prepare you for more advanced robotics.  It’s a great way to get ready for next year’s FIRST LEGO League competition.

Our Robo Camp is a direct extension of the STEM programs offered in our school.  We will be using the same scientific and engineering approaches to problem-solving during the Robo Camp that we practice in school.  Each Robo Camp meeting is designed to allow our children to use robotics to investigate and learn STEM concepts and experience the thrill of success.

During the 4 weeks of Robo Camp, we will be exploring the nature and construction of robots, how to use the available sensors, and how to program the robot to accomplish specific tasks.  The theme for ROBO Camp is the “Into Orbit Challenge”.  We will examine how robotic technology is helping humanity explore space.  Then we will design, build and program robots to help us complete a number of simulated space missions.  And while the kids are having fun, they will be developing the knowledge and ability to use the tools, skills, and methods of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math..
